I suppose one reason we have cliches in movies is that cliches are often based on reality. So here we have a police detective so dedicated to his cases that his home life suffers. And we see this a lot with fictional policeman, but this show is based on an actual case and its participants. And the villain is so cocky and just plain evil that he seems to be a product of an overwrought scriptwriter’s imagination. Was he really like this? But of course it doesn’t really matter in a way. This is a drama, not a documentary, so some license is allowed and perhaps even expected. I watched this because of Douglas Henshaw and he didn’t let down the side throughout. He is driven and dedicated, savvy and fierce by turns, and just cliched enough to guarantee a certain result to a crime victim, just like they do on the crime drama shows.
