"Day One" does a few things moderately well but remains a rather formulaic sci-fi crime thriller. If you were expecting anything novel or thought-provoking, you won't find much on offer from this Spanish series. It's a very mild cautionary tale about the risks associated with AI and big tech, but this is, at its core, a crime thriller. Predictably there's the usual woke content and a warning about how social media needs policing, even, no doubt, if that means taking away people's right to privacy, as we are seeing in Australia. Acting in this series is solid; no complaints there, and it's well paced and rarely dull. In summary, a serviceable sci-fi thriller from Spain. Worth a look.
