Season 1
Life hasn't been the same for Elena since the tragic death of her parents, but she tries to pick up the pieces and provide support for her troubled younger brother, Jeremy. On her first day back at Mystic Falls High School, Elena meets the mysterious new guy, Stefan, and the two seeming lost souls form an instant connection. What Elena doesn't know, however, is that Stefan is a vampire, constantly resisting the urge to taste her blood. But Stefan, it seems, has a greater evil to deal with when his dangerous older brother, Damon, shows up to wreak havoc on the town of Mystic Falls — and claim Elena for himself.
Season 2
This season, Katherine's appearance in Mystic Falls will throw a wrench into the love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Damon, and the other residents of Mystic Falls must choose sides as they fall victim to a new breed of danger. New and unexpected friendships will be forged, allies will become enemies and hearts will be broken. Plus, Stefan and Damon will be forced to face a villain more evil and diabolical than they thought possible.

Teenage vampire soap opera. Probably the worst vampire TV show.

Toss out everything you've learned about the traditional vampire. I scoffed and couldn't finish episode two. The overly loud terrible music soundtrack gave me a headache. The "evil" brother was the only thing that kept me watching episode two but I couldn't take the music anymore.

Man, it’s been hell of a ride. I got emotionally attached to this series. I cried with these characters. I laughed with them. I don’t know why other people hate it but I loved it. Sure it got a little bit boring when you got closer to the ending but it’s worth a shot. Overall I’ll give this 8.5/10.

It's an emotional rollercoaster with complex characters, unexpected twists, and a love that transcends death. The story of Elena, Stefan, and Damon is addictive, with a love triangle that'll make you question your own choices. The Salvatore brothers are iconic: Stefan, the tortured hero, and Damon, the sexy villain with a heart of gold. And let's not forget the rest of the cast: Caroline, Bonnie, Tyler... everyone brings something special. With 8 seasons, the series explores themes of love, friendship, loyalty, and redemption, always with a touch of supernatural drama and action. My favorite episode is "The Day I Tried to Live" (5x01), it made me cry. If you like supernatural dramas with addictive characters, The Vampire Diaries is a must-watch.
