The main thread of the series is set before the historical success of the Yugoslav national team in Montevideo in 1930 at the first FIFA World Cup, reaching the semifinals, and focuses on the personalities of the young footballers, whose enthusiasm and talent contributed to their participation in this major international competition. The events take place from the end of 1929. to early September 1930, when the footballers—great national heroes—navigate, through the story of contemporary cultural and social events, the dramatic everyday life of the poor yet uncorrupted players on one side, and the Belgrade and Yugoslav bourgeoisie on the other.
Nine new episodes tell the story of the team's month-long journey to Uruguay, starting with the train trip from Belgrade, through Croatia, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, all the way to France and the port of Marseille, where they boarded the ship „Florida" and continued with their voyage to Montevideo.
The Yugoslavian football team arrive for a tournament and are disappointed to see that although they had participated in the World Cup, they are greeted with a cold shoulder.
