With over two decades of experience in film and television, Rook continues to impress both audiences and critics through his versatility and commitment to creating compelling, memorable characters. From portraying the weather-controlling super-villain Clyde Mardon in The Flash (2014) to the hardened soldier Boyle in War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), Rook has proven his remarkable adaptability across genres. His standout performances in acclaimed series such as Siren (2018), The 100 (2014), Virgin River (2019), Supernatural (2005), and Timeless (2016) have cemented his reputation as one of Canada's most dynamic and respected screen talents. In 2020, Rook received a Leo Award for Best Performance by a Male for his dual-role portrayal in the psychological drama We Came From the Sea (2020). That same year, he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in the romantic comedy The Perfect Pickup (2020), which achieved worldwide distribution through Bayview Entertainment and Shoreline Entertainment. Rook went on to appear in major feature films including Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (2021)-as task-force officer Richard Aiken-and Dangerous (2021) opposite Mel Gibson. His portrayal of Deputy McLanahan in Joe Pickett (Paramount+) quickly became a fan favorite, helping the show become one of the platform's most-watched originals. His performance as real-life Irish businessman James Dolan in Billy the Kid (MGM+, 2022) earned him critical acclaim and the Leo Award for Best Lead Performance in a Drama Series. In 2024 and 2025, Rook continued his momentum with starring roles in the psychological thriller Brother (2024), the holiday romance A Dickens of a Christmas (2024) opposite Ashley Newbrough, and the supernatural thriller Witches X (2024) opposite Michael Eklund. He also earned the Rosie Award for Best Performance by a Male Lead (2025) for his gripping performance in Prank Night (2025), and appeared in the highly anticipated Stephen King prequel series Welcome to Derry (2025) directed by Andy Muschietti. Brother is set to have its worldwide premiere in New York in January 2026, marking another major milestone in Rook's expanding international career. Rook's upcoming television projects include the USA Network crime-drama series Anna Pigeon (2025) and My Life with the Walter Boys - Season 3 (2025) on Netflix. Beyond acting, he continues to expand his creative reach as a filmmaker. He is currently writing and directing the true-crime feature film Diary of an Old Lady, co-written with Tina Marie McCulloch, a powerful and character-driven story exploring loyalty, identity, and survival.
