He was not related to Justin Cade but they were boyfriends at some point in the early 80s until 1986. In the late 80s, Joe was paired with Brian Adams, they met while filming Better Than Ever. They're first reaction to each other was "What a jerk." In later films they felt it was difficult to perform together when they felt like making love but were asked to have sex. They spent 2 hours per day 6 days a week at the gym. In Oct. 1988, they appeared on the Phil Donahue show. Joe Cade took the bronze medal at the 1986 Gay Games for Best Physique in the light heavyweight class. Justin Cade had taken second place. When filming for Splash Shots, there were so many people on set and peeking in that he felt humiliated and didn't perform again for another year and a half.
