Alongside his extensive film work, he became widely recognized for his roles in Mexican television and radio, as well as for his acclaimed work as a writer. Ruán received numerous honors for his artistic legacy, including the Medalla Virginia Fábregas and the Cabeza Olmeca, and was named Hijo Predilecto of Nahuatzen, Michoacán.
